No-exam life insurance
The criteria for fast-track underwriting, the process itself, and options if you don't qualify.
Today many insurance carriers provide fast-track underwriting: qualified applicants—meeting age, amount, and other criteria—are approved using submitted data, prior prescriptions, driving records, and other information in place of a medical exam. Approvals can be received within hours. This site specifies for each offer whether an exam is needed, might be needed, or isn't needed.
What it changes
No exam doesn't mean less scrutiny. Answers are confirmed, and if false statements are discovered, the policy can be challenged within the first two years. Should the carrier's own data trigger concerns, an exam or lab tests might still be requested—you then decide if you want to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Usually people under about 60 seeking coverage within the carrier's approved limits, with no significant past health issues and no tobacco consumption within the last twelve months or more. Recent medical checkups with lab results can substitute for an exam with some insurers.
When an exam is necessary, it typically takes 20 to 30 minutes with a paramedical specialist at your residence or workplace in and around Redondo Beach, completely at no charge. For those in good health, exam results often result in moving up a rate tier—so the exam can actually be beneficial.
